Arsenal are being linked for an audacious swoop for one of the world’s best players.

Arsenal are said to be considering a move for one of the best players in the world. The Gunners have already built one of the best squads in world football, amassing incredible depth that is able to withstand injuries and other absences.

Mikel Arteta will be delighted with the weapons he has available, and if Arsenal do not win the title this season, there may even be questions asked about his future as a result.

But the battle to keep building on a squad never ends as the other major powers in world football bid to overtake the Gunners. One argument that could be made about this Arsenal squad is that, for all of their depth, outside of the centre-back positions, they don’t have a player who is the best in the world in their position.

Arsenal may feel they need a world-beater in the attack, someone who is able to break open any given game on any given stage. That kind of deal does not happen very often, but according to Football Transfers, the Gunners may be eyeing one.

PSG superstar Ousmane Dembélé is said to be of interest, with the former Barcelona star having led his side to their first-ever Champions League title last season. He has gone on to score 11 and assists seven so far this season, playing the best football of his life ahead of the World Cup.

PSG are not likely to want to sell their star man, and they do have him under contract until 2029, so it would likely take more than £100million to prise the 29-year-old from the French capital.

But the what could be argued is that, given the depth Arsenal now have, they really are only looking for the cherry on top at this stage, and if there are limited departures, they may well use their money for one big signing rather than additions across the board.

Whether they can manage it within Financial Fair Play regulations on the back of big spending over recent years is another question, and one only Arsenal will have the answer for.
