Liverpool and Sunderland have looked at signing Galatasaray and Hungary right-back, Roland Sallai.
At present, the Reds’ full-back ranks are severely depleted, leaving Arne Slot to call upon players like Dominik Szoboszlai and Curtis Jones to fill in out of position at the back.
Conor Bradley could miss the start of 2026/27 following an injury picked up in a 0-0 draw with Arsenal.

Elsewhere, Joe Gomez may leave Liverpool before next season gets underway.
This would leave the Merseyside outfit short of right-back options for the new campaign.
However, they have looked at strengthening their ranks with one of Szoboszlai’s Hungarian teammates.

Now, a report from Turkish outlet Asport has provided an insight into the Reds’ interest.
They say both Liverpool and fellow Premier League side Sunderland have made serious attempts to sign the defender, whose current club were not willing to let him leave in the 2026 winter transfer window.
However, as the summer approaches, English teams are expected to make approaches for Sallai again.
This time, it’s understood that those in a position of power at Galatasaray could be more open to letting the right-back leave.

Roland Sallai stats, market value and contract details
Sallai joined his current team in 2024, signing from German outfit Freiburg.
Since moving to Turkey, the 28-year-old has made 65 appearances, scored seven goals and provided seven assists.
He is a natural right-back but is capable of playing as a wing-back and, like Szoboszlai, has acted as a right winger.
Sallai is currently under contract with Galatasaray until the end of June 2028.
The report does not mention a potential price-tag for the defender, but Transfermarkt give him a valuation of €10m, which is around £8.7m.
A fairly low sum for a club of Liverpool’s size, who may need right-back cover come the second half of 2026 if Gomez goes and Bradley still isn’t back.
