Victor Osimhen has added an unexpected layer to his rapidly developing transfer saga after publicly expressing admiration for Galatasaray, even as Chelsea intensify preparations for a potential summer bid.
The Galatasaray striker, has been at the centre of one of the most high-profile transfer chases in Europe. Long linked with a move to the Premier League, Osimhen’s name has repeatedly surfaced on CHELSEA’s recruitment shortlist as the club seeks a new elite-level forward capable of transforming their attack.
But in a recent interview circulated across on Gazzetta dello Sport ahead of Galatasaray’s clash against Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League, Osimhen suggested it was a ‘stroke of luck’ that he found ‘love’ in Istanbul. The Nigeria international said: “I found a club and a city I love, maybe it was a stroke of luck
“As soon as you arrive in Istanbul, you understand why everyone who’s played here has fallen in love with the team and the people. I’ve never experienced anything like it.”
On Galatasaray, Osimhen added: “We’re trying to grow internationally. We’ve signed other top-class players, and we’re aiming to do well in the Champions League. We’re an established force in Turkey, but now we want to make our mark in Europe.”
The remarks are believed to reflect Osimhen’s appreciation for the club’s stature rather than indicate any advanced discussions. Nevertheless, they have been interpreted by some observers as a sign that the striker is keeping his options open ahead of a pivotal summer.
CHELSEA remain the most heavily linked contender at this stage. The London club are expected to prioritise the signing of a proven centre-forward in the next transfer window, and Osimhen has been viewed as an ideal fit for the long-term project under manager Liam Rosenior.
His goal record in Italy an Turkey, combined with his physical profile and ability to lead the line independently, has placed him high on the list of candidates capable of elevating Chelsea’s attacking efficiency.
Turkish reports suggest Galatasaray’s hierarchy have been encouraged by Osimhen’s comments, viewing them as an opportunity to at least enter discussions with the player’s representatives over a new and improved contract.
For Chelsea, Osimhen’s praise of another club is not expected to derail ongoing interest. Internal assessments continue, and the Blues remain confident they can offer a compelling project built around youth, long-term stability, and the lure of Premier League competition.
Whether they choose to trigger his release clause or negotiate alternative terms will depend on parallel targets and squad planning meetings scheduled for the coming months.
As the summer window approaches, Osimhen’s future remains one of the most closely watched storylines. His latest comments have suggested that he wants to stay where he is, but it will be interesting to see what would happen if CHELSEA made an official offer.
