Liam Delap will be hoping to emulate Chelsea legend Didier Drogba, who is arguably the club’s greatest-ever striker.
The good news for Delap is that he has already repeated one of Drogba’s feats at Chelsea.
Last Friday, the Blues beat Hull City 4-0 in the FA Cup to set up a fifth-round tie against Wrexham Town.
Even the Hull City fans were booing Alejandro Garnacho 🤣
What did you make of these two?

Delap failed to get his name on the scoresheet on the night despite being presented with one glorious opportunity. However, the forward still played a major role in his side’s victory.

Liam Delap becomes the sixth Chelsea player to record hat-trick of assists in Premier League era
Delap was involved in three of Chelsea’s goals at the MKM Stadium, providing three assists. One came after a brilliant bit of play from the 23-year-old, who then went on to put the ball on a plate for Estevao Willian.
By recording three assists against Hull, Delap became just the sixth player to do that in a Chelsea shirt in the Premier League era, as highlighted by Chelsea’s official club website.
It is a feat that the likes of Drogba and Gianfranco Zola have also managed to achieve.
What do you like about Liam Delap’s game?
Liam Rosenior thinks he's selfless 👏

Delap will now be hoping that his first hat-trick of goals comes soon, especially with the Englishman struggling to find the back of the net at the minute.
Since joining Chelsea from Ipswich Town, Delap has only scored three goals, and one of them came in last summer’s Club World Cup competition.
Nicolas Jackson could rejoin Chelsea’s squad ahead of the 2026/27 season, a possible development that could have ramifications for Delap.

Liam Delap should start against Burnley
Joao Pedro is Chelsea’s first-choice striker right now and deserves to be. The Brazilian has been excellent under Liam Rosenior and scored some big goals.
All things considered, Pedro has probably been Chelsea’s Player of the Season so far. With that being said, after his performance at the MKM Stadium, Delap has earned a run-out when Rosenior’s side take on Burnley this Saturday.
Starting Pedro in the No.10 position and using Cole Palmer out wide is one way to get Delap into the team.
