Wayne Rooney Makes Bold "Strong and Powerful" Arsenal Claim As He Predicts If They'll Beat Man City To The Title

Former Manchester United and England striker Wayne Rooney has predicted who he thinks will win the Premier League.

Arsenal took their attention away from the Premier League over the weekend, as they had to overcome Wigan Athletic in their FA Cup fourth round tie. The Gunners won 4-0 at the Emirates, and will face Mansfield Town in the fifth round.

Mikel Arteta will quickly turn his attention to the Premier League though, as the Gunners make the trip to play against bottom of the league Wolves on Wednesday night, looking to extend their lead over Manchester City to seven points.

Man City have stepped up in form recently, and are still on Arsenal’s heels, and so the title race could yet again come down to the last few weeks between Guardiola and Arteta.

Rooney thinks Arsenal will win the league

Former Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney believes that Arsenal are too strong, and doesn’t believe that their lack of experience in winning a title will let them down, which has been many pundits’ criticism of the Gunners.

Rooney said on the Overlap: “I actually think Mikel Arteta is handling it brilliantly with the way he’s speaking with the media. It’s other people connected to the club who are actually having more of an effect.

“I don’t think they have that superstar but they can win games and they’ve shown that over the last three years. Arsenal haven’t got an absolutely world-class player, a superstar that they pin everything on, but what we’ve seen is they know how to win games.

“Of course Man City can still win it. There’s still a third of the season left to go so anything can happen, but I think Arsenal will win it. I think they’re too strong and powerful. I think they win it because of Mikel Arteta, he’s shown the pressure in previous years but he’s handling it spot on this season.

“Man City will run them close but I just can’t see them winning every game and Arsenal dropping that many points.”

The game against Wolves is an easy one on paper, but the pressure will be very high, as a win could see them build a healthy gap over Manchester City.
