Mac Allister's Father Makes Contract Talks Claim As He Responds To Manchester United Rumours

Alexis Mac Allister’s Dad has revealed that his son is “waiting” for a new contract from Liverpool.

The Argentinian international has been linked with a shock move to Manchester United over the past few days, but when asked about the rumour, Carlos Mac Allister replied:

“Alexis is only thinking about Liverpool at the moment. We’re waiting for an offer to renew his contract and we’ll see what the club’s plan is.”

When pushed further on whether his son could leave Liverpool if a new contract is not agreed, Carlos doubled down on his initial statement:

“We’ll wait and see what happens with the renewal. That’s all.”

How long does Mac Allister have left on his current deal at Liverpool?

The midfielder signed a five-year contract when he signed from Brighton for £35m in the summer of 2023. It means there is still just under two and a half years remaining on that agreement.

Mac Allister is earning a salary of around £150,000 a week, but after playing an integral role in winning the Premier League last season, he may feel he deserves a pay rise.

From the sound of things, the club are dragging their feet on offering him improved terms, most likely because he has struggled to reproduce the form he showed last campaign.

Are the links to Manchester United genuine?

The original source for the story isn’t particularly reliable, but when speaking about the possibility of the midfielder moving to Old Trafford, trusted journalist Fabrizio Romano did not dismiss the rumour out of hand. Speaking on his YouTube channel, he said there was “nothing really advanced or concrete in terms of conversations,” but he wouldn’t say whether there was genuine interest.

It could simply be the case that United have been mentioned in the media in order to put pressure on Liverpool to hand Mac Allister a new contract.
