Chelsea and Liverpool could be set for another transfer battle, this time for RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande
During the January transfer window, both Chelsea and Liverpool were interested in signing Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes.
In the end, Jacquet chose Liverpool and will join them this summer in a blow to the Blues.

Chelsea trailing Liverpool in Yan Diomande race
According to TEAMtalk, Chelsea have been scouting Diomande alongside several other Premier League clubs.
However, the same outlet has claimed that it is Liverpool’s interest that is seen as being “most advanced” at this moment.
Whoever signs Diomande is going to have to pay huge money. Amid links to Bayern Munich, journalist Christian Falk has told CF Bayern Insider that Leipzig want £87m for their winger.

Diomande once had the chance to join Chelsea after a trial but opted to sign for Leganes instead for the sake of his development.
Diomande will be pleased with the decision he made, with the 19-year-old eventually earning a switch to Leipzig where he is now shining.

Yan Diomande’s sparkling season
Diomande has made quite the impression in the Bundesliga this season. In 21 appearances, the Ivorian has scored eight goals and provided three assists.
According to WhoScored, Diomande is also completing 3.5 dribbles per game, which is the highest average in Leipzig’s squad.
Clearly, the Ivory Coast international is a very talented wide man who can score goals and beat his man. However, Diomande is still a teenager. If Chelsea sign him, they will be getting a raw talent who could potentially cost almost £90m.
In the past, some of their signings from the Bundesliga have not really worked out. Question marks even remain now with Jamie Gittens, whom they only signed last summer. Chelsea need to be extremely cautious here.
