Luka Doncic reportedly supported the Los Angeles Lakers' quiet trade-deadline approach, appreciating their focus on discipline and the long-term plan rather than pushing for a superstar addition.
Los Angeles Lakers superstar Luka Doncic was reportedly unfazed by the team's relatively quiet activity ahead of the February 5 trade deadline, according to Dave McMenamin of ESPN.

"A source familiar with Doncic's thinking told ESPN that L.A.'s deadline approach with 'adherence to discipline' and focus on the 'long-term picture' was supported by the 26-year-old star," McMenamin reported.
Luka reportedly has not pushed the Lakers to pursue a superstar-level co-star to pair with him once LeBron James is no longer on the roster.
At the February 5 trade deadline, L.A. made one move, sending Gabe Vincent and a 2032 second-round pick to the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for sharpshooter Luke Kennard.

Looking ahead, this summer will be a pivotal offseason for GM Rob Pelinka and Lakers acting governor Jeanie Buss. Together with new owner Mark Walter, they'll work to chart the best path forward with Doncic as the face of the franchise.
Starting with draft night, the Lakers will have three first-round picks available to trade – 2026, 2031, and 2033 – and are projected to have $51 million in cap space, factoring in the $20.9 million free-agent hold for Austin Reaves, according to ESPN.
