Tyreek Hill made his feelings clear following his release
Tyreek Hill’s time with the Miami Dolphins is done after four years. The teamannounced the release of the star player four years after acquiring him in a blockbuster trade that brought him over from the Kansas City Chiefs.
Hill’s time with the Dolphins had an anticlimactic end. He last played for Miami in Week 4 of the 2026 season. Through three quarters, Hill had six receptions for 67 receiving yards; however, he had to depart following a dislocated knee injury. Following the game, Hill was quickly ruled out for the remainder of the season and he would not play for the Dolphins again.
Due to the severity of the knee injury he suffered, former Chargers team doctor David Chao questioned whether Hill could return in the future. He posted on X, “This type of injury, given his style of play, falls into the career-threatening category.” Chao added that if Hill were to return it would likely be toward the end of the 2026 season as he stated that Hill likely had another surgery ahead.
Tyreek Hill Sends Message
Following his release, Hill took to Instagram to send a message, thanking the Dolphins and giving an update on his possible return. He said, “From the bottom of my heart, Thank You To the entire @miamidolphins organization, my teammates, the staff, and most importantly Fins Nation, for an unforgettable 4 years. From the moment I landed in Miami, I felt the Love. You believed in me. You pushed me. You celebrated with me. These past few years have been some of the most meaningful of my life and career.
To my brothers in the locker room who have come and gone — Thank You for the wins, the Ls, the memories, the sacrifices. We built something special, together, for the city of Miami.”
Regarding his return, Hill said, “The Cheetah is all the way turned up and locked in. Focused. The Cheetah don’t slow down. Ever. So to everyone wondering what’s next… just wait on it.The Cheetah will be back…Born Again.”
Tyreek Hill’s agent had previously disagreed with David Chao’s assessment.Hill’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, had previously said, “The realistic goal is the start of the season.”
Tyreek Hill’s Free Agency
Hill’s medical status will likely determine the contract he yields in free agency. The Dolphins released him with a “failed physical” designation. Regarding Hill’s potential next destination,ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler wrote, “Hill might just be the unique player who can recover from this and continue to make plays. A potential return to Kansas City has to be mentioned. The Chiefs’ offense hasn’t quite been the same since the franchise traded Hill in 2022.
Reuniting with Los Angeles Chargers offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel makes sense, too. Hill was perfectly suited for McDaniel’s scheme. While Hill’s days of top-shelf earning power might be over, he’ll likely still get a respectable contract.”
Prior to his injury, Hill had been one of the most productive receivers in the NFL. Up until his injury, only Justin Jefferson had more receiving yards since 2022.
