Patrick Mahomes reached out to Tyreek Hill after he sustained his brutal knee injury last season, with the receiver now being released by the Miami Dolphins and looking to play for a new team in 2026.

Hill was released after playing just four games before dislocating his knee as well as rupturing his ACL, among multiple ligament tears, ending his season in what turned out to be his final game with the Dolphins. The superstar receiver will turn 32 next season and has previously suggested he will retire earlier than many believe.

However, he has now stated that he will play in the league next season, while hoping to make a full recovery ahead of training camp, with the door open to a potential return to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Chiefs star Chris Jones has already taken to social media to post: "It's time," in response to Hill being released, with the superstar receiver being odds-on to re-join his former team.

Hill has remained close with Mahomes despite leaving the team in 2022, and the quarterback reached out to his former teammate after sustaining his injury in September.

Mahomes said on Hill: "Yeah, I mean, I talked to him a little bit, but more than anything, just sending prayers his way because you never want to see that happen in football.

"And it’s part of the game, but it’s a terrible part of the game. And I know how he works, so I’m excited to watch his comeback now.

"He’ll get to work and be back at it, but obviously praying for him and his family because you never want to see that on the football field."

Mahomes, too, is currently rehabilitating an injury he sustained last season, with both he and Hill looking to get back in time for training camp.

The Chiefs are coming in off the back of a brutal six-win season in 2025, and know they'll need more than Hill to get back to where they need to be in the AFC.

The receiver could also have options in the likes of the Buffalo Bills, Baltimore Ravens, Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers — Super Bowl caliber teams that could be in the market for a receiver.

After being released by the Dolphins, Hill posted: "The love I have for this game is unexplainable.

"And right now, this offseason, for the first time ever, The Cheetah is all the way turned up and locked in. Focused. The Cheetah don’t slow down. Ever.

"So to everyone wondering what’s next... just wait on it. The Cheetah will be back... Born Again. Major Love to the 305.”
