Chelsea reportedly leads the race to sign a Premier League centre-back over the likes of Liverpool and Tottenham.
The Blues are heading into their next game against Burnley hoping to overtake rivals Man United, who are sitting in fourth place, just one point above Liam Rosenior’s side.
Chelsea drew their last Premier League game against Leeds, but they did get back to winning ways last weekend with a 4-0 win against Hull City in the FA Cup fourth round. They’ve set up a fifth-round tie against Championship side Wrexham.
Rosenior hopes that he can guide Chelsea into the Champions League and then begin to strengthen his squad in the summer. It is understood that the Blues are very keen on a centre-back, after inconsistency from the likes of Wesley Fofana, Tosin Adarabioyo and Benoit Badiashile.
Chelsea lead Liverpool in Murillo race

Nottingham Forest defender Murillo was linked with a move to Stamford Bridge last summer, as the Blues did want to add more talent at centre-back. However, they opted against signing the Brazilian defender, but they do remain keen.
According to Caught Offside, Chelsea are eyeing a summer move for the 22-year-old, alongside the likes of Liverpool and Tottenham. The report claims that Chelsea are the frontrunners for Murillo, and that they currently are his most likely destination.
It is understood that Forest would demand a fee of £70m, as they don’t want to sell him, however, they are in a relegation battle. If Nottingham Forest were to suffer relegation to the Championship, they would have to drop their asking price, and Murillo could become somewhat of a bargain for any Premier League club.
So far this season, Murillo has made 18 Premier League appearances for Forest, and despite them going through four different managers, he has remained as one of their most consistent performers alongside the likes of Elliot Anderson and Morgan Gibbs-White.
