Audie Norris said two men tried to rob him at Barcelona's Sants train station late at night by spraying his jacket as a distraction, but he managed to escape safely and criticized the lack of security in the city.
Former NBA and FC Barcelona player and current Barca ambassador Audie Norris revealed on social media that he was the target of a theft attempt in the capital of Catalonia.
"Last night, at Sants [train] station in Barcelona, I went to the parking lot to pick up the car, and 2 men tried to rob me," Norris wrote on X. "First, they sprayed something on the back of my jacket, then another came with the excuse of cleaning it off me. In reality, they wanted to rob me."
Norris said he managed to get away safely.
"I managed to escape, get into the car and lock it, and I left," he explained. "There was no police or security. It was 11 p.m. at night. If they had had a knife, this story would have ended very badly.
"Where is the security in Barcelona? Not even a big, strong man like me can walk down the street in peace."
Norris enjoyed a highly successful career with FC Barcelona, winning three Spanish League titles (1988, 1989, 1990) and two Copa del Rey trophies (1988, 1991).
He began his professional career in the NBA with the Portland Trail Blazers, where he played for three seasons before moving to Europe.
