Marcus Rashford wants to stay at Barcelona, but can the La Liga outfit afford him?
What Michael Carrick would give to have Marcus Rashford in his starting XI for Manchester United over the next few months.
With 10 goals and 13 assists in 34 games for Barcelona, the 28-year old has shown that he is back to something looking closer to his best and that he can be a real goal threat from the left wing. It is a position where United need quality and depth, however, Barcelona have first refusal and only have to find £26m to make the deal permanent.
Barcelona want Rashford negotiations
The Catalan’s financial problems are well known and even a bargain fee for a top-class player seems to be causing them consternation. The report from Danyal Khan states: “Man Utd not willing to re-negotiate Rashford’s Barca permanent fee. Sky Sports News understands Manchester United are not and will not re-negotiate with Barcelona over the option fee for Marcus Rashford for his loan move to become permanent.
“This comes amid a report that talks have been under way between the two clubs, with Barca wanting to pay less than the current option, which stands at around £26m (€30m). However, Sky Sports News understands that is not the case and from United’s point of view, the situation remains unchanged.”
If Rashford is willing to play for Carrick or whoever the next manager is, taking this stance with Barcelona is the only way in which they will get him back.
