Man United continue to be linked with RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande, but they will face competition for his signature.
Manchester United have the core of a good team althoughthey don’t quite have the depth of squad needed to challenge for the title.
This will be something that the recruitment team will want to address in the summer with some of the players who are being asked to play week in, week out, likely to become rotational squad players instead. Every area of the park is seeing names mentioned as possible targets with many of them providing some excitement ahead of what could be a busy summer.
Man United continue to be linked with Yan Diomande
One such name is the interest in RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande. The 19-year old winger has suitors from all over Europe with most of the top clubs in the Premier League and Bundesliga considering a move for the ambidextrous magician. With nine goals and six assists in 24 appearances this season, there is a feeling that he is on the cusp of becoming one of the continent’s best.
A forward three of Diomande, Bruno Fernandes and Amad Diallo behind Bryan Mbeumo would be as good as any in the Premier League and it is easy to see why United seem so keen to bring the Ivory Coast international to England. There is just one small problem though. He won’t come cheap and he has his pick of clubs.
How much will Diomande cost as Premier League rivals join chase?
According to Alex Crook at TalkSPORT, Liverpool are “ready to join the race for Diomande” as they look to replace Mohamed Salah.
Crook also confirmed that “Manchester United and Chelsea have both been keeping tabs on Diomande” but that Liverpool scouts were in attendance as he scored in Leipzig’s most recent fixture against Wolfsburg in a 2-2 draw. Bayern Munich are, unsurprisingly, also monitoring the situation and Leipzig have put a valuation of more than £80million on his head. A release clause of £87m has also been reported in the past.
Should Leipzig miss out on Champions League, Crook claims that the £80m price tag could come down to compensate for the loss of money.
