The verdict: Chelsea fans crown Player of the Season as Joao Pedro narrowly misses out

Chelsea fans have been completely split on who to select for the club’s player of the season so far, with Joao Pedro narrowly missing out on the top spot.

With Cole Palmer enduring a number of injury problems so far this season, a number of other Chelsea stars have had to step up and deliver in their fight on all four fronts.

Pedro has impressed particularly in the time Liam Rosenior has been in charge, and currently sits on 21 goal involvements in all competitions this season.

He is certainly not the only nominee for this award though. Midfield duo Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo have both enjoyed brilliant seasons themselves.

The Chelsea Chronicle ran a poll on TalkingPoints to hear who Blues fans thought had been the most impressive individual so far this season, and you can still get involved by voting on the poll below!

The votes are extremely close, however at the time of writing Chelsea fans have selected Fernandez as their Player of the Season.

He just about pipped Pedro and Caicedo to the award, and a number of users let us know the World Cup winner was their clear number one.

One user said: “Enzo, he’s suddenly become our Argentine version of Lampard. If he can keep this up we’ve got a great player on our hands.”

Another added: “Would say Enzo, he is starting to look like a World Cup winner at both club and national team level.”

Finally, one user stated: “Fernandez anyday.”

Fernandez enjoying his best season yet at Chelsea

Under Rosenior, Fernandez has featured in a far more attacking role, even coming in off the left to devastating effect.

He has 11 goals in all competitions so far in this campaign, with plenty of them coming since the new manager took over.

The Argentine has reached new heights in a number of different ways so far this season, and has unsurprisingly attracted interest from a number of Europe’s other elite clubs.

Despite Real Madrid being known admirers, it looks as if Fernandez is seen as one of the few untouchables at Stamford Bridge.
