Liverpool’s summer hasn’t even started yet, but the rumour mill is already in full swing for Arne Slot’s side, with transfer stories coming from every angle. Alexis Mac Allister is suddenly being splashed across back pages in red and, awkwardly, a bit of Manchester red, as reports in England claim Manchester United are eyeing a sensational swoop for the Argentine if their Champions League push goes to plan.

Over on the continent, there are fresh murmurs that Galatasaray’s Roland Sallai has appeared on Liverpool’s wider defensive shortlist.

It all feeds into the sense that this will be another big reset window at Anfield, with outgoings just as important as incomings as the club shapes Slot’s squad for the next phase of the project. And while Liverpool fans focus on who might arrive or depart, one current Red is quietly becoming a headline act in someone else’s summer plans: Federico Chiesa.

Calciomercato are reporting West Ham United sounded out a move for Chiesa during the January window and are ready to revisit the situation in the summer.

Calciomercato’s line is that the Hammers had the 27‑year‑old on their list as they searched for attacking reinforcements, only to be knocked back because Liverpool did not want to sanction an exit without lining up a replacement. Instead, West Ham pivoted and brought in Adama Traoré on a cut‑price deal, but that is now being framed as a short‑term solution rather than the end of their interest in the Italian.

Chiesa has made 16 appearances for Liverpool in all competitions so far in the 2025/26 season, but rarely starts under Slot with the Dutchman seemingly not trusting the Fiorentina youth product fully.

It is claimed that £15‑17 million could be enough to tempt the Reds into talks, which would put him firmly within West Ham’s reach if they stay in the Premier League and free up wages. For now, it remains one to watch, but with the London club needing a statement addition in attack and Chiesa chasing regular football, it is a rumour that is unlikely to disappear any time soon.
