NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Devin Snow, host of the post-Saints game call-in show “Hold the Mayo,” celebrated Mardi Gras to the fullest on the St. Charles Avenue parade route.
Snow gained immense regional and national notoriety from a video series he produced that featured him giving reviews every Monday from locally owned eateries. He started in New Orleans and eventually expanded the series across the Gulf South region.
Last week, he announced his 300th episode as his last.
On New Orleans’s biggest day of the year, he was spotted by Fox 8 just enjoying everything that comes with Carnival.
“Oh, this is one of my favorite days of the year. It’s always hard to get to because it’s so early, but we’re here. I’m looking forward to action. I’m getting coconuts,” Snow said.
Snow arrived at the parade route about 10 minutes before the interview, faring better than some revelers who had been there since midnight.
When asked about staying for the Rex parade, Snow was definitive about his plans.
“No, this is it. No, seriously. I want to let the world know this is my last run right here. Last parade, and I’m back at the house. It’s over. It’s over. This is it,” he said.
Snow said he had only consumed a frozen coffee from PJ’s Coffee and was looking forward to finding food along the route, mentioning the smell of burgers and hot dogs cooking nearby.
“Hot dogs on Tuesday. I’ve seen a lot of grills out here, so hopefully you can find something good here soon,” he said.
Snow gave the world a great run of “red bean Mondays”... Could Hot Dog Tuesdays be next?
