Reliable journalist: How Liverpool can sign top winger for less than £80m+ valuation

Liverpool are one of several clubs highly interested in signing RB Leipzig forward Yan Diomande and his price tag could fall soon.

Leipzig are having a season similar to Liverpool’s as they battle to finish inside the top four and achieve Champions League qualification for the 2026-27 season.

The German outfit is currently fifth in the Bundesliga table just two points behind Stuttgart.

There is still plenty of football to play this season but if Leipzig don’t finish in the Champions League qualifying places, it could affect their ability to demand a big fee for Diomande.

RB Leipzig want over £80m for Yan Diomande but that price may fall

Alex Crook reports for talkSPORT that Liverpool have recently had scouts watching Diomande in Bundesliga action while reporting on what RB Leipzig will demand for their talented teenager.

Yan Diomande in the Bundesliga this season:

?? 21 games

?? 8 goals

?? 4 assists

? 2.1 key passes per 90

? 5 big chances created

?? 4.6 successful dribbles per 90

Crook reports: “Manchester United and Chelsea have both been keeping tabs on Diomande and Liverpool scouts were present as he scored during last weekend’s 2-2 draw at home to Wolfsburg.

“The 19-year-old, a potential replacement for Saudi Arabia target Mo Salah, is also wanted by Bayern Munich and Leipzig have put a price tag of more than £80million on his head.

“That valuation could come down if Leipzig, currently fifth in the table, miss out on Champions League football next season.”

Liverpool could repeat Hugo Ekitike trick by landing Diomande this summer

While many at the time believed Liverpool wanted Alexander Isak and no-one else, the Reds snapped up Hugo Ekitike for a fee reported to be in the region of £79million.

The Frenchman has since become one of the most exciting players in the Premier League, with his pace and agility defying logic. The 6ft3 striker moves like a man several inches shorter and his 15 goals and 4 assists this season testify to the success of his summer transfer to Anfield.

Still only 23, the former Eintracht Frankfurt star has a bright future and Liverpool may look to repeat this trick by bringing Yan Diomande to Anfield.

Diomande has spoken about his dad’s dream of seeing the winger play at Anfield but maintains he is focused on a strong end to the season with Leipzig.

He said: “People made it out to be my dream club. But first and foremost, it’s my dad’s favourite club. It was always his great wish to see me there someday because he loves the atmosphere at Anfield.

“He always raved about Steven Gerrard. I was too young to see him play.

“We didn’t even have a TV at home for a long time. I have a lot of respect for Liverpool, but my dream club right now is Leipzig.”

This season, Diomande has 11 goals and 7 assists for Leipzig with there a strong chance he can finish 0n double figures for both goals and assists if he maintains his excellent form.
