NBC Sports is exploring ways to make All-Star Saturday more exciting, including the potential addition of a fourth event such as a 1-on-1 or 2-on-2 tournament.
NBC Sports is already looking for ways to make All-Star Saturday more thrilling, according to executive producer Sam Flood, per Front Office Sports.
The network is exploring the addition of a fourth event to complement the traditional Slam Dunk Contest, 3-Point Contest, and Shooting Stars competition. Potential ideas include a 1-on-1 or 2-on-2 tournament featuring NBA stars.
"On the NBC side, we're thinking if there's another element that could be added that would make Saturday even more of a showcase for the players," Flood said.
The move comes after this year's All-Star Game achieved its highest viewership in 15 years, thanks in part to the new USA vs. the World format, competitive 12-minute games, and broadcast coverage following the Milan–Cortina Winter Olympics.

NBC hopes that adding a fresh, competitive event on Saturday will continue the momentum and draw more fans to All-Star weekend.
Flood, who has worked multiple All-Star Games during NBC's golden era, emphasized that the focus should remain on showcasing the players' skills.
"The entertainment needs to be the guys on the court," he said. "Best players in the world; best athletes in the world? Let's show them off."
While the Dunk Contest remains a staple, the network is also looking for ways to rejuvenate it, with former champion Vince Carter involved in brainstorming how to attract top-tier dunkers.
