Knicks forward OG Anunoby is ready to play Friday against the Detroit Pistons, despite a lingering toenail injury.
New York Knicks forward OG Anunoby says he is ready to play against the Detroit Pistons, according to Stefan Bondy of the New York Post.
Anunoby has been recovering from a strange injury that caused his toenail to come off. "He's getting better. His toenail hasn't grown back yet, however, and he doesn't know why it was ripped off," Bondy reported.
The Knicks, currently third in the Eastern Conference with a 35–20 record, will face a Pistons team leading the conference at 40–13. This matchup will be a key test for New York as they look to maintain their playoff positioning.
Anunoby has been a vital contributor for the Knicks this season. In 41 games, he is averaging 16.6 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.7 steals per game, while shooting 47.9% from the field and 37.0% from three.
With Anunoby back in the lineup, New York hopes to get a boost on both ends of the floor as they aim to challenge Detroit for the top spot in the East.
