Liverpool are reportedly targeting a South American sensation as an alternative to Morgan Rogers.
Liverpool will head into this summer transfer window looking to come back from a disappointing title defence, which has seen the Reds well off the pace at the top and currently fighting just to earn a spot in the Champions League.
With five spots set to be given to English clubs in Europe’s premier club competition for next season, Arne Slot’s Liverpool currently sit sixth and will need to find more consistency if they are to oust Manchester United and Chelsea above them.
Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers has already been identified as a top Reds target for next summer, with the club looking to swoop for the 23-year-old England international despite Villa’s current position in the top three of the table. Rogers will not come cheap, though, and could cost £100m amidst rival Chelsea interest. Reports have emerged that Liverpool are targeting a young Brazilian winger as an alternative to the England man.
Liverpool target £30m swoop for Palmeiras starlet Allan
According to reports by journalist Ekrem Konur for Sportsboom, Liverpool are scouting Palmeiras winger and midfielder Allan as they look to develop their attack for the future next summer. The Reds have joined Newcastle in the race for the 21-year-old, who has also had previous interest from Aston Villa and Napoli.
The versatile Brazilian has drawn eyes from across the globe after his commanding performances in the 2026 Campeonato Paulista and has two potential paths forward according to the report. While a direct move to Europe is a concrete option, the Palmeiras starlet could also make the move to Inter Miami in the MLS and use that as a stepping stone in his development. Palmeiras are believed to value Allan at £26m - £30m, while the player has an €100m release clause which gives the Série A outfit significant leverage.
Previous reports have stated that Napoli are preparing a €20m (£17.4m) bid, expected to be knocked back by the Brazilian giants as the battle to sign their prize asset intensifies, particularly if Liverpool come in with a concrete approach ahead of the summer.
Rogers to Liverpool latest as Allan links emerge
While by no means the finished product in the way Rogers increasingly appears to be, Allan offers Liverpool a cheaper alternative to the England international and could see the Reds secure the player before he truly explodes on the global stage.
Reporting from TEAMtalk suggests that while Liverpool’s interest in Rogers is genuine, no formal contact with club or player has been made at this stage as the 23-year-old continues to focus on the task at hand in the remainder of the season with Aston Villa. Both Liverpool and the player’s camp have ‘denied’ that groundwork is being laid for a move, though the Reds and Chelsea may ramp up their interest in the forward this summer.
Allan is a different profile to Rogers, with a lower centre of gravity and notable agility which helps him to get out of tight situations and circulate possession impressively – while scouting reports describe the 21-year-old’s footballing IQ as ‘far beyond his years’. If Liverpool get their way, we may soon get to see this first-hand in the Premier League.
