NBA players at All-Star weekend voted Nikola Jokic as the league's best player, topping a small poll that included Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Luka Doncic, and Donovan Mitchell.
Denver Nuggets superstar Nikola Jokic continues to show why he is considered one of the best in the game. While he has three MVP awards in the last five seasons, this time it's his peers giving him the nod.
Joe Vardon of The Athletic polled a handful of NBA players at All–Star weekend in Los Angeles, asking, "Who is the NBA's best player right now?" Jokic led the results with five votes.
Reigning MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder came second with three votes, while Luka Doncic and Donovan Mitchell each received two votes. Six other players finished with one vote each.
Miami Heat All–Star Norman Powell explained his choice, saying, "All-around, I'd have to say Nikola Jokic. I mean, all-around game, what he's able to do, what he means for that team, the numbers he's able to put up and how effortless he's able to make it."

Atlanta Hawks forward Jalen Johnson also praised Jokic:
"He's been dominant for so long, and what he does on a nightly basis is pretty impressive," he explained.
The poll included some quirks. Cleveland Cavaliers star Mitchell voted for himself and also received a vote from teammate Jaylon Tyson. Still, Jokic's recognition seems natural given his sustained dominance.
Despite missing a month due to a knee injury this season, Jokic is putting together another historic campaign.
He is averaging 28.7 points, 12.3 rebounds, 10.7 assists, and 1.4 steals per game, while shooting 59% from the field, 42% from three–point range, and 84% from the free throw line.
