The Chelsea hierarchy have reportedly issued a ‘tacit acceptance’ that the club must do better after viral footage of players appearing to snub young Hull City mascots sparked a wave of criticism across social media.
Chelsea‘s 4-0 win over Hull City was a real statement from Liam Rosenior and his side. It was the first time that the Blues actually put in a complete performance throughout, after falling off in previous matches.
Mamadou Sarr and Liam Delap were actually the highlights. The former broke a record on his competitive debut, while the English striker recorded three assists.
But that game will now be remembered by many for what went on prior, as the Chelsea players were called out for failing to acknowledge the Hull City mascots before the tunnel.
Simon Jordan made his feelings clear on the matter and also spoke to officials at Chelsea.

Chelsea acknowledges they need to improve after Hull City mascot incident
Talking on TalkSPORT, Simon Jordan shared what Chelsea officials had told him on the matter.
“But it doesn’t take very much just to acknowledge a kid. I’ve flagged it with Chelsea, the senior guys at Chelsea, and they know it.
“There’s a tacit acceptance that A, digitally, they shouldn’t be proud of putting an image out like that because that’s not quite the reflection they want, and B, the players should acknowledge younger kids.
“There’s a school of thought that says when you actually go to the game, when the kids went out on the field, they were acknowledged by the Chelsea players.
“But the optics of that are not right, you’re in an entertainment business, optics play a part of it, as much as I don’t like it. There’s a tacit acceptance from Chelsea that ‘we need to do a little better.”
Liam Rosenior won’t be best pleased and will surely have had a word with his Chelsea players, having spent so long at Hull City and the approach he takes with younger fans at Cobham.

Liam Rosenior leading by example at Chelsea
While the cameras captured a cold reception from the playing squad at the MKM Stadium, Liam Rosenior set the perfect example through his own conduct.
Returning to his former club as Chelsea head coach, Rosenior rejected the tunnel-vision approach, instead making a concerted effort to acknowledge the Hull City staff and young fans who had gathered to welcome the teams.
This isn’t the first time either, as Rosenior, even before taking his first game as Chelsea boss was seen taking photos with supporters during the Premier League clash with Fulham.
