During the All-Star break weekend, Houston Rockets forward Kevin Durant was taking part in the festivities. He was named an All-Star for the 15th time in his career. He is clearly one of the greatest NBA players of all time.

This season, Durant has the Rockets sitting fourth in the Western Conference standings. Houston also has the sixth-best offense in the NBA. Durant has added a more dangerous element to the team that they didn’t have a year ago. He will have a lot more distractions following All-Star weekend, though.

Over the All-Star break, a social media burner account was found that is allegedly owned by Durant. That account was used to disparage both current and former teammates. He addressed those allegations for the first time since that story broke.

Rockets Forward Kevin Durant Addresses Burner Allegations

After practice, Durant was asked about the burner. He didn’t give a straight answer.

Kevin Durant spoke at Rockets practice today. I asked about the burner allegations. Here’s what he said.

“I know you got to ask these questions, but I’m not here to get into Twitter nonsense. I’m just focused on the season, keep it pushing. I get that you have to ask those questions.”

When pressed further if he’s talked about it with his teammates, Durant still did not directly address the situation.

“My teammates know what it is. We’ve been locked in the whole season. We’ve been enjoying our break, had practice today, and looking forward to the road trip.”

At this point, Durant will likely keep deflecting. He did not say that he owned the burner account, but he also didn’t deny that he did. The Rockets need him to not focus on that and for him to worry about playing basketball, but this story likely will not be going away anytime soon.

Until Durant directly addresses the incident, he will keep getting questions about the burner accounts. He has a well-known affinity for X, formerly know as Twitter. Now, that affinity is starting to cause drama with he and his teammates.

The Houston Rockets Still Need Kevin Durant to Keep Chemistry With His Teammates

This is an issue that could torpedo the rest of the Rockets’ season. Durant needs to keep the chemistry high with his teammates if they want to have any chance of winning a title this year. This could be an issue that Durant handles behind closed doors instead of through the media.

The alleged burner account talked poorly about Russell Westbrook, Stephen Curry, Jabari Smith Jr., and other former and current teammates. At some point, Durant is going to have to either come clean that it was his burner or outright say it is not connected to him at all.

Durant is having close to a 50/40/90 season this year with the Rockets. He is playing some of the best basketball of his career at his point. Houston needs him to continue to play at that level to win the West.
