'No chance': Jason Cundy claims he wouldn't take Bukayo Saka over Chelsea star

Former Chelsea defender Jason Cundy was recently asked who he would choose out of Estevao Willian and Bukayo Saka.

Cundy went with Estevao, which will not surprise Arsenal fans given his connection to their London rivals.

Nevertheless, Cundy has still tried to explain his decision after being asked about the Chelsea winger, who has impressed this season.

SCENARIO: Chelsea are closing in on the signing of Yan Diomande but must sell one of their current wingers first…

Jason Cundy has chosen Estevao Willian over Bukayo Saka because of his numbers

Saka is one of the best attackers in the Premier League. However, right now, Cundy is taking Estevao over the Arsenal star because of the numbers he has produced in the amount of minutes he has played.

When asked to choose between the two on talkSPORT, Cundy said: “I don’t have him over Estevao this season, no chance! His numbers, Estevao’s numbers for the minutes he’s played are ridiculous.”

Settle the debate! Estevao or Bukayo Saka? 🔵 🔴

Estevao has not been at Chelsea for long, but the 18-year-old is already a very popular player at Stamford Bridge.

Estevao has been given the nickname “Stevo”, which fans were heard chanting during Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Leeds United earlier this month.

How Estevao Willian and Bukayo Saka compare this season

In the Premier League, Estevao has scored fewer goals and provided fewer assists than his Arsenal counterpart.

Estevao has scored two goals and provided two assists in 19 appearances, while Saka has double those numbers after playing three more games.

Saka has also played more minutes than Estevao, so it is to be expected that his output has been higher. That being said, when you use the per 90 minutes metric to measure the stats, it makes things much more interesting.

According to FotMob, Estevao scores 0.24 goals per 90 minutes and registers 0.24 assists per 90 minutes, meaning he scores and assists every four games. Saka’s ratios are almost identical.

With that in mind, maybe Cundy has a point, focusing on just this season. Estevao has done really well for the number of minutes he has been given.
