The Boston Celtics have surpassed expectations to this point of the 2025-26 campaign, as they currently sit in second place in the Eastern Conference, despite not having Jayson Tatum at their disposal at all this season. And in what is likely a scary proposition for the rest of the league, it looks like Tatum is closing in on a return to action for the C's.
After suffering a torn Achilles tendon in last season's playoffs, Tatum has been working tirelessly for find his way back on the court. All signs point to him closing in on a return to action, and in a post on X, Tatum provided another update on his injury rehab that quickly caught fans' attention.
"40 weeks🙏🏽 I’ve really grown to appreciate this journey I’ve been on and allow time for me to pat myself on the back for showing up everyday!" Tatum said in a post on X.
While the C's have been good even without Tatum this season, it cannot be overstated how big an impact his return could have on the league. The Eastern Conference is wide open, and if he can play anything like his usual self if he returns to action this season, that could allow Boston to go on another title run far sooner than expected.
Tatum has remained coy on whether or not he intends to play this season, so Boston will have to do its best to continue to hold down the fort while waiting for him to make a decision. In the meantime, the C's will be back in action when they take on the Golden State Warriors at 10 p.m. ET on Thursday night.
