The Cleveland Browns will be moving on from Pro Bowl guard Wyatt Teller.
Cleveland Browns veteran offensive guard Wyatt Teller announced that he will be moving on in free agency.
Teller is set to become a free agent in March, and his message made it clear that a return to the Browns is unlikely.
“I wish things were different and this is hard to put into words. When Buffalo traded me to Cleveland seven years ago, I never could have imagined how much this city would mean to me,” Teller wrote in a note shared on social media. “Ultimately, the Browns took a chance on me that changed the trajectory of my life forever.
“To the most loyal fans in the NFL, I hope y’all know that you have made a mark on my family’s life forever. I proposed to Carly on the 50-yard line at the stadium, bought our first home here, and proudly welcomed both of our babies to the world in Cleveland.”
With free agency approaching, Teller’s message struck an emotional tone as he reflected on his time in Cleveland and the lasting relationships his family built during his seven seasons with the Browns.
“I’ve made friendships and connections on and off the field that will last far beyond the game of football. Our family is so blessed and grateful for everyone in Northeast Ohio who has supported and loved us these past seven years,” Teller said. “While we are excited and look forward to what the future holds, Cleveland will always have a special place in our hearts. As always… Go Browns!”
His departure marks another significant change for a unit facing major turnover heading into the offseason. Joel Bitonio, Ethan Pocic and Jack Conklin are all set to become unrestricted free agents.
Wyatt Teller Faced Adversity in Final Season With Browns
Teller appeared in 13 games last season, but his role shifted down the stretch as he began splitting reps with Teven Jenkins. Teller didn’t shy away from the demotion, owning that he needed to improve.
“Probably along the lines of not playing well enough — I feel like that’s obvious,” Teller said. “There’s a lot of stuff, as a personal player, I need to improve on.”
Teller’s name surfaced in trade rumors ahead of the deadline, but he ultimately remained in Cleveland. At the time, he made it clear he wanted to be part of the solution and reitre as a member of the Browns.
“I don’t want to tuck tail and leave because I feel like a couple of years ago we were that close to being in the AFC Championship,” Teller said in November. “That’s just mind-boggling for any Cleveland Browns fan. It’s been since the ’80s since we’ve done it. We used to do it consistently, so how do we bring that culture back — the culture that goes to the playoffs, that has a winning team, that isn’t the same old Cleveland Browns?”
Wyatt Teller is Second Browns Veteran to Announce Departure
Teller’s announcement comes on the heels of former first-round pick David Njoku signaling that his time in Cleveland is coming to an end.
“Cleveland, first off I love you. These 9 years have been a beautiful journey. I’m am so grateful for all the memories we shared together. Thank you to The Haslams, Andrew Berry and the whole browns organization for everything!!” Njoku said. “All my teammates I shared the battle with I’m so grateful for you guys. The time for me to find a new home has come and all I can think of is just the gratefulness in my heart. The city of Cleveland will forever be home.”
The Browns are entering a new era under new head coach Todd Monken, and the offense could look drastically different in 2026 as familiar faces begin to move on.
