He was 85.
Neal Dahlen, a former Broncos and 49ers executive who was a part of seven Super Bowl championships, has died. Mike Klis of 9News first reported the news on Wednesday evening.
"Neal Dahlen, a former Broncos and 49ers executive whose 7 Super Bowl rings are tied with Tom Brady for second-most all-time, has died. He was 85. Dahlen was with Broncos' front office from 1996-2003. Only Bill Belichick with 8 had more SB rings than Dahlen," he reported.
Bill Belichick, who has eight Super Bowl championships, is the only NFL figure with more titles than Dahlen.
NFL fans are mourning his loss
"What stands out about Neal Dahlen's passing isn't just the number of rings, but the hidden influence he had in shaping a winning culture inside two completely different organizations. Very few executives leave a legacy that goes beyond star players and big names. Maybe the real question now is: do we measure his impact by championships… or by how he redefined what behind‑the‑scenes excellence looks like in a championship team?" one fan wrote.
"7 Super Bowl rings. A legacy built behind the scenes. Neal Dahlen wasn't on the field, but he helped build dynasties. That kind of impact doesn't fade. Rest in peace to a true architect of greatness," one fan added.
"RIP," one fan added.
"7 Super Bowls. Two iconic franchises. Zero need for spotlight. Neal Dahlen proved greatness isn't always loud - sometimes it's built in the front office. Football lost a legend today," one fan added.
Our thoughts are with the friends and family members following his loss.
May he rest in peace.
