“Hardest Sport to Play is Football”: Fans Push Back After Deion Sanders Says Baseball Is the…

In his prime, Deion Sanders was a prolific multi-sport athlete who excelled at both football and baseball. And, while he eventually made the NFL Hall of Fame, Sanders’ baseball career was nothing special by itself.

Incidentally, Sanders’s difficulty with both sports matched the athlete’s numbers – and demonstrated interests. Speaking recently on apodcast, Sanders weighed in on either sport based on difficulty level. However, while fans respect his legendary contributions to either games, some are pushing back at Sanders’ take. Here’s the full gist.

Fans Push Back After Deion Sanders Calls Baseball the Toughest Sport to Play

During his MLB career, Sanders played for nine seasons and slashed .263/.319/.392 with 39 home runs and 186 stolen bases. Despite never completing a full season in the league due to his interest in football, Sanders’ baseball numbers are generally considered impressive for what was his second sport.

Wow: The legendary Deion Sanders tells Shannon Sharpe that baseball is the hardest sport to play.

“Hitting that baseball. That baseball is no joke.”

According to the NFL Hall of Famer, baseball is the toughest sport to play, based on his experience. Meanwhile, the athlete also had significant seasons fielding in high-profile basketball and track/field teams.Yet, Sanders once claimed the difficulty of playing baseball kept him returning to the game. His hunger for perfection and penchant for challenges drove him to perfect winning baseball games. Fortunately, he persevered enough to play baseball at the highest level in the States.

That said, and without any disregard for Sanders’ experiences, many fans – and stats – disagree with his take. According to an ESPNreport ranking the difficulty of world sports based on metrics such as endurance, strength, speed, and agility, football is the third-hardest sport in the world, after boxing and ice hockey. Baseball (softball) comes ninth behind basketball, wrestling, martial arts, tennis, and gymnastics.

Disagreeing with Sanders’ take, a few fans on X are also rooting for football, while others stick with the legend’s experience.

@DontBetOnTatum says:“Hardest sport to play is football, Josh Allen is so good but will never make it to the Super Bowl”

@DP2Nice comments:“Football is harder on your body and the longevity to play.”

However, others like @RAllen18122159 submit:“I fully agree with Prime”

@Miamissdria adds:“We believe Deion.”

A fifth commenter, @Way2PC3 says:“That’s not up for debate lol. Just go to the batting cage🤣”

The argument might never end, since every athlete has a unique experience that shapes their perspective. However, anyone could take for granted one reality: playing either baseball or football at the pro level is never a walk in the park.
