Hornets guard LaMelo Ball involved in car crash in Uptown Charlotte, source says

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Charlotte Hornets star guard LaMelo Ball was involved in a car crash in Uptown Charlotte on Wednesday evening, a source told WBTV.

The crash reportedly happened around 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 18 at the intersection of East Trade Street and North Tryon Street. Circumstances surrounding the crash were not immediately clear. You can watch a video of the car crash in the video below. Courtesy of Michael Moseler II.

Crash happened at East Trade and North Tryon Street on Wednesday

First responders said that one person was treated for non life-threatening injuries related to the crash.

A source told WBTV that Ball was not injured in the crash, and that he was expected to play against the Houston Rockets on Thursday, Feb. 19.

It was unclear whether Ball was driving the vehicle involved in the crash, as of this writing.

The Hornets guard has played in all 45 games for the team, starting 42 of them. He is averaging 19.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 7.4 assists per game this season.

The 6-foot-7 guard was drafted No. 3 overall by the Hornets in the 2020 NBA Draft.
