In the high-pressure environment of the modern Chelsea dressing room, Reece James has quietly turned to the one man who arguably understands the weight of the captain’s armband better than anyone else in the club’s history, and that is John Terry.
Reece James has gone up a level since Liam Rosenior came to Chelsea, really knuckling down and leading from the front, both in Europe and the Premier League.
However, an injury has kept him out of the last couple of top-flight games. But his return against Hull City was positive, as he captained the side and got 60 minutes under his belt.
Despite all the issues he’s had, Robert Sanchez revealed that James is still the top player when it comes to Chelsea training, epitomising the term ‘leading from the front.
But it hasn’t been all his own doing, as he’s even enlisted the help of John Terry.

Reece James has been asking John Terry for advice
John Terry needs no introduction at Chelsea.
The former defender is the most successful captain in Chelsea history, leading the Blues to five Premier League titles, five FA Cups, three League Cups, and the Champions League and Europa League.
So it comes as no surprise to hear that Reece James has been talking to him.
Speaking to Chelsea, Reece James revealed that he has been asking John Terry for advice at times, stating that he’s still young after all.
“I speak to John Terry sometimes and try to learn from him. I’m still young.”

What Reece James can learn from John Terry
There is no better player for Reece James to learn from than John Terry.
One of the main things the pair have in common is the performance first mantra. A captain’s authority is built on the foundation of leading by example in training.
By absorbing Terry’s experience in navigating high-stakes trophy races and internal club politics, James can bridge the gap between being a world-class right-back and a club figure.
The one thing that James has to focus on as captain is avoiding injury.
