Liverpool Star Is "Expected" To Miss Notts Forest Clash As New Return Date Is Revealed

Liverpool right-back Jeremie Frimpong is “expected to remain on the sidelines” for the game against Nottingham Forest this weekend, according to journalist Gregg Evans.

The journalist is The Athletic‘s most reliable source for information on the Reds and he claims that the Dutchman has still not returned to first-team training.

“Liverpool are likely to be without Jeremie Frimpong for another week as he completes the final stages of his recovery from a groin injury.”

“The 25-year-old right-back has missed the last four games and is expected to remain on the sidelines for the trip to Nottingham Forest on Sunday.”

Frimpong should be back to face West Ham

As Evans mentions, the Netherlands international has already been out for four matches, including the win over Newcastle, the defeat to Manchester City, as well as the Sunderland and Brighton games.

Frimpong pulled up early on in the win over Qarabag in the Champions League last month but it does appear as if he is close to making his comeback.

The match after the Forest fixture is against West Ham at home on Saturday, 28th February.

Latest Liverpool injury news

Reds boss Arne Slot has four other senior players on the treatment table; none of whom are expected to be available for selection anytime soon.

The closest to making his comeback is Alexander Isak. He is back in light training after recovering from a broken leg, but he is still several weeks away from returning to the pitch.

Wataru Endo seriously injured his ankle against Sunderland, but Slot is still optimistic he will return before the end of the season. Conor Bradley and Giovanni Leoni, meanwhile, have already been ruled out until next campaign due to knee injuries.
