Welcome to series focusing specifically on the schoolboys at Arsenal who are currently at Hale End – those in the U16s and below. The academy is based in E17, Walthamstow. The 16th article is on Jax Egbuson.
A tall centre-back who is composed in possession, Egbuson has been at Arsenal since February 2024, when he joined from Watford’s academy.
Now part of Arsenal’s U14 squad, Egbuson impressed at the Hale End Cup this week as Arsenal won a competition that included clubs from around the world such as Paris Saint-Germain, Anderlecht, Avispa Fukuoka, Cliftonville, Hertha Berlin and Blackburn Rovers without conceding a single goal.
Egbuson has already helped Arsenal’s academy to win numerous trophies during his time at the club and he will now be hoping for opportunities to impress above his age group.
Previously called up to an England U15 training camp, he is also eligible to represent Nigeria or Poland.
Although he is mainly a centre-back Egbuson is capable of operating as a right-back if required.
Having earned a reputation as one of the standout defensive prospects in the academy, Egbuson is now eager to make further progress.
