Chelsea decision made as£100k-a-week powerhouse to get summer move

Striker Liam Delap is reportedly being tipped for a departure from Chelsea this summer, according to transfer outlet CaughtOffside and multiple sources tracking the forward’s situation, with several clubs across the Premier League said to be monitoring the 22-year-old’s future.

Delap, who joined CHELSEA from Ipswich Town last summer for a fee believed to be around £30 million, has struggled to find the sort of consistent goalscoring form that many expected following his promising stint in East Anglia.

With his struggles in front of goal a real issue for the Blues, speculation is mounting that the West London side could be open to proposals for the England Under-21 international if the right deal materialises.

CaughtOffside’s report says Manchester United are among five top-flight clubs who have kept Delap on their radar, alongside Newcastle United, Everton, Sunderland and Brighton & Hove Albion — underscoring the broad interest in a player still viewed as having significant untapped potential.

Chelsea’s forward ranks have become increasingly crowded under manager Liam Rosenior, who has additional options including Joao Pedro and Emanuel Emegha, with some observers suggesting that Delap could benefit from regular first-team football elsewhere to aid his development.

IcChelseanews Says…

It has been a shame to see that Liam Delap has been unable to really develop at the club, he looks like he does not belong here, which again, is a massive shame. So if the reports are true and CHELSEA are looking to let the striker leave at the end of the season, it may be the best thing.

The board are in the market for another striker, meaning that Delap could fall further down the pecking order, so if the opportunity arises for the club to get some good money and let Delap join a side where he can play, they it may be the best thing for all involved that he does go.
