Liverpool have already sent a pretty loud message about their summer plans – and now there is the latest name on a recruitment list that’s starting to take serious shape.
The Reds have agreed a deal worth £60m to sign Rennes centre-back Jérémy Jacquet, with the 20-year-old to stay in France until the end of the season before joining officially on July 1. The package is structured as £55m up front plus a further £5m in performance-related add-ons.
On top of that, the club are monitoring Palmeiras midfielder Allan, who has been described as a complete midfielder and is viewed as a possible addition to refresh Arne Slot’s options in the middle of the park. Reports in Brazil claim that that Allan is in line for a £30m move to Anfield including performance-related bonuses.
Into that context comes growing interest in Olympiacos and Greece international goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis, with Liverpool named by Arena Napoli as one of the clubs tracking him this season.
Italian sides Napoli, Roma and Juventus have been heavily linked, while Arsenal are also mentioned as suitors, but Olympiacos are said to be hoping that the Premier League money – and specifically Liverpool and Arsenal – will be drawn deeper into the race.
The report indicates Olympiacos have set a minimum asking price of around €20m for the 23‑year‑old. Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis, who also owns Olympiacos, is understood to be keen to “place” the keeper in the Premier League and is therefore happy to see English interest building.
Tzolakis came through the Olympiacos system, joining the club as a teenager in 2018 before breaking into the first team the following year. After initially serving as a back-up, he has only really established himself as a regular starter since the beginning of last season, but his numbers and performances have accelerated his reputation quickly.
Across his Olympiacos career, Tzolakis has made 118 appearances in all competitions, keeping 57 clean sheets and conceding 96 goals – a strong record for a young goalkeeper still developing. This season alone, he has featured 21 times in the Greek Super League, adding European experience on top of that, and he has already earned seven caps for the Greek national team.
