'Possible': Bolo Zenden says why he thinks Liverpool could 'produce something special' and win the UCL

Bolo Zenden thinks Liverpool have a chance to win the Champions League this season, but has also named Arsenal and Bayern Munich as strong competition.

With their Premier League season all but over, the European competition and FA Cup are the only real chances Arne Slot has of salvaging something for the campaign.

The Reds have been much better in the Champions League and have already qualified for the last-16 after they finished in the top eight of the group phase table.

They return to action next month, and Bolo Zenden has now commented on Liverpool’s chances of lifting the trophy in Hungary later this year.

Bolo Zenden rates Liverpool’s Champions League chances

Speaking to The Redmen TV’s YouTube channel, the former Red was asked if Liverpool can win the competitions this term.

Zenden suggested Arsenal and Bayern Munich were among the favourites to do so, but added that Slot’s side could do something special.

He said: “Well, the thing is if if you look at the teams that are still in the competition, because there’s a few obviously out, I think Bayern Munich and Arsenal are looking really solid. We’ve seen Arsenal obviously also in the Premier League doing really well, but then again, the favourites doesn’t always win this tournament, and Liverpool on their day or on the night can always produce something special.

“So why not? But it’s not going to be an easy road, and it also depends obviously, on the draw that comes along. We’ve seen last year that, for example, Paris Saint-Germain just qualified on match day eight and in the end they won the competition by 5-0 in the final. So it would have, no one would have expected this.

“So yeah, of course, anything is possible.”

Opta’s favourites for the Champions League

Like Zenden, Opta‘s supercomputer currently makes Bayern Munich and Arsenal favourites for the trophy.

The Gunners are given a 26.86% of winning the competition, nearly double that of second-place Bayern (15.19%).

Manchester City, despite a mixed group campaign, are then third-favourites (12.75%).

Meanwhile, Liverpool are the fourth most likely to win the Champions League, according to Opta (9.48%).
