Arsenal dropped points to bottom of the league side Wolves on Wednesday night in a huge title twist.
The Gunners had a two goal lead thanks to Bukayo Saka, and Piero Hincapie, but they threw it away against a struggling Wolves side, as Hugo Bueno and Tom Edozie scored for Rob Edwards’ side to claim a point at Molineux.

It means that Arsenal go into the North London derby against Tottenham with a five-point lead over Manchester City. But, Pep Guardiola’s side do have a game in hand, so Arsenal have a ‘net’ two-point lead over City.
The Wolves draw was arguably Arsenal’s lowest point of the season, and fans and pundits alike are starting to worry based on the Gunners’ three second place finishes over the past three years.
Merson doubts Arsenal’s title chances
After the game, former Arsenal forward Paul Merson was very concerned with the result, and has said that he is beginning to question whether the Gunners will win the Premier League title this season under Mikel Arteta.
He said on Sky Sports: “I was very bullish about Arsenal winning the league, that’s half scared me tonight.Something’s missing, I wouldn’t want to be in their shoes if they don’t win the league this year.”
Merson also criticised Arteta, as the Arsenal boss looked dejected in his post-match press conference, saying that his side deserved to take the two point hit. Merson said that Arteta’s usually cheerful self was nowhere to be seen.

“I was quite shocked with the interview of Arteta then.” He added, “First time really I’ve seen him not majorly positive, he saying ‘we’ve deserved the hit’, instead of coming out and going ‘we’re five points clear, as long as we don’t get beat by Man City, we go the same as them and we win the league’, it wasn’t like that.”
