This iconic picture shows Mansfield Town battling the mighty Arsenal in the FA Cup all the way back in 1929.
Goals from Harold Burston Peel and David Jack secured Arsenal’s fourth round win on 26 January 1929 in front of just under 45,000 fans at Highbury.
It remains the only time that the two clubs have faced each other as Stags gear up to create club history when they host the Premier League leaders for the first time on 7 March.
Unlike the current star-studded crop that the Londoners will field for the FA Cup fifth round tie, the side they sent out against Stags in 1929 doesn’t feature names we still know today.
Their starting line-up was Dan Lewis, Tom Parker, Eddie Hapgood, Jack Butler, Charles Jones, Joe Hulme, James Brain, David Jack, Harold Burston Peel, Alf Baker and Billy Blyth, while details of the exact Stags line-up are lost to history.
Stags beat Shirebrook 4-2 away in the first round, Barrow 2-1 away in the second round and Wolves 1-0 away in the third round.
Arsenal were entually knocked out of the cup after a 1-0 loss to Aston Villa. with Bolton Wanders triumphing in the 1929 final after beating Portsmouth 2-0 in the final.
