Huge concern for Liverpool as Reds now in danger losing"special"player in 2026

Liverpool could now potentially be in danger of losing attacking youngster Josh Abe in the near future, according to a new transfer update.

While Reds supporters will be dreaming about top-quality new signings this summer, keeping hold of certain individuals is just as important.

That applies to current established figures such as Dominik Szoboszlai and Florian Wirtz, as well as young stars like Rio Ngumoha and Trey Nyoni.

Abe is another hugely promising player, catching the eye in the academy this season, but a worrying update has emerged regarding his future.

According to The Athletic, the 15-year-old’s “future beyond this season is currently uncertain as he has yet to accept Liverpool’s offer of a scholarship.”

The report goes on to add that the Reds’ Premier League rivals are “understood to be keeping a close eye on the situation given that if there’s still no agreement by June 1, then he will be free to speak to other clubs.”

Liverpool must convince Josh Abe to stay put

As mentioned, Abe is a young footballer with the world at his feet, with journalist Bence Bocsak heaping praise on his ability recently:

“JoshuaAbe’s left-foot is special. He generates enormous power and accuracy for a player of his age. He is fast, strong and great technically but his ability in front of goal is what elevates him as an enormous talent.”

For that reason, it is vital that Liverpool do all they can to convince him to commit his future to the club, rather than seeing him move to one of their rivals, which would hurt.

The Reds need to improve on the pitch, in order to show the teenager that they are the right club for him, also promising him a genuine pathway into the first team, assuming he keeps improving at his current rate.

Abe already has 11 goal contributions in just 10 appearances for Liverpool’s Under-18s – eight goals and three assists – which highlights what a great talent he is.

Hopefully, he continues to flourish in the academy before following in the footsteps of Ngumoha and becoming a fixture in the senior setup.
