Chelsea still favourites for £100m star despite Tottenham’s change of strategy

Morgan Rogers has long been touted as a Chelsea transfer target, and he’s a top player. Tottenham are now being linked as well.

While there’s plenty of season left, it’s no surprise to see attentions turn to the summer. Chelsea will likely look to add another attacking options, and a very popular choice among fans would be Morgan Rogers. The Aston Villa attacker has long been linked with us, and looks a world class star.

Now Tottenham are also being mentioned in connection with the 23 year old. Football Insider report that Spurs could look to be more aggressive in the market now they have new people in charge. After a heavy spend last summer, they’d still likely have to sell, but we can see why Rogers is a popular option.

We have our doubts about whether Chelsea will be signing Rodgers, as the reported demands of around £100m just make it such a hard deal to do. But if we make it into the Champions League and Liam Rosenior is really happy with the squad, we can see perhaps one big spend in the summer.

One thing we don’t forsee is Tottenham being the ones to buy him. They’ve even less likely to spend that sort of money, and they’re a far less tempting destination for a player right now. Frankly, it looks most likely he spends another year at Villa right now.

In other news…

Liam Delap continues to be linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge, but we really don’t see it as likely just yet.

It looks like Marc Cucurella could be missing for a while, so Chelsea fans are wondering about what possible solutions there could be at left back.
