As David Raya attracted some criticism during Arsenal’s 2-2 draw with Wolves, The Chelsea Chronicle have looked into how his stats compare with Blues shot stopper Robert Sanchez.
Sanchez has reclaimed his own future at Chelsea following an excellent 12 months or so between the sticks
The Spaniard is no doubt hoping for a call up to the international side for the 2026 World Cup, where he is competing with Raya for a place in the side.

Robert Sanchez’s 2025/26 stats are better than David Raya’s
The Arsenal man is leading the race for the Golden Glove award with 13 clean sheets, although Sanchez’s 10 see him not far behind in that regard.

The notable asterisk when it comes to that accolade is that it comes down to the entire defensive setup to pick up a clean sheet, and Arsenal’s backline is far superior to the one at Stamford Bridge.
The impact the goalkeeper is having can be seen in the goals prevented stat. This measures the expected amount of goals the ‘keeper is denying based on the opposition xG.
Sanchez has prevented 2.4 goals this season according to Sofascore, while Raya’s figure is -2.6, suggesting he is letting in more than he should.
The Chelsea man also has made far more saves than his compatriot this season, coming in at 65 in comparison to 37.
Sanchez remains underrated by the rest of the league due to his really poor start at Stamford Bridge, however the stats are very much in his favour against the Arsenal man.
