$100K reward offered to catch vandals who damaged new Buffalo Bills stadium

The construction management company behind the new Buffalo Bills stadium is offering a reward after vandalism caused the project suspend work this week.

Gilbane | Turner, which aims to complete the Highmark Stadium replacement before the 2026 NFL season, said graffiti was discovered over the weekend in “both finished and unfinished areas of the stadium project site.” Construction was paused Sunday and will resume Friday, according to WIVB.

“We suspended work because the people who come to this jobsite deserve to work in an environment that reflects respect and professionalism,” Gilbane | Turner said in a statement. “When that standard is violated, we address it and take the time to reset expectations. That is who we are and how we operate. ”Gilbane | Turner maintains zero tolerance for graffiti, vandalism, or any behavior that undermines the respectful and supportive environment we expect on our projects."

The company said it would offer a $100,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the explicit graffiti.

Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz told WIVB that the vandalism included “spray-painted pornographic images” and homophobic, “appearing to target the LGBTQ+ community.” He said the damage will cost at least $150,000 to fix.

Gilbane | Turner and Poloncarz both promised the new stadium in Orchard Park, N.Y., would still be completed before the Bills kick off their season in the fall.

“This stadium will be delivered on schedule. Maintaining a safe, respectful, and supportive jobsite is our highest priority,” Gilbane | Turner said.

Construction on the $1.7 billion project was previously suspended in 2024 when a suspected hate symbol was discovered on the site. A police investigation determined there was no criminal activity and the display was not malicious.
