Former Phoenix Suns center Bol Bol made headlines Wednesday, as he officially agreed to a new professional contract in the PBA (Philippine Basketball Association).
According to Basket News, Bol will join the TNT Tropang 5G's for the 2025-26 Commissioner's Cup. The competition begins March 11., giving Bol plenty of time to get acclimated with his new team.
There, he'll join another former NBA player, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, a former Brooklyn Net, Toronto Raptor and Portland Trail Blazer.
Coming out of college at Oregon, many were excited about Bol as a prospect, given his height, shooting and dribbling abilities despite his 7' 3" frame.
Not to mention, Bol is the son of a 10-year NBA veteran Manute Bol.
That said, Bol received limited opportunities. In three seasons with the Denver Nuggets, Bol made just 53 appearances and earned only 6.2 minutes per game.
Things looked promising after that though, as Bol posted a career-high 9.1 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.2 blocks for the Orlando Magic in the 2022-23 season, making 70 appearances. But, Bol was later released by the Magic and picked up by the Phoenix Suns.
There, Bol spent his final two NBA seasons, posting 5.9 points per game and 3.1 rebounds in 79 appearances over two seasons before finding his way out of the league.
Although an NBA comeback seems unlikely, the 26-year-old will now have another professional opportunity to show NBA scouts his talent.
As for the Suns, they'll return to action Thursday against the San Antonio Spurs in their first game since the All-Star break.
