Thursday night marks the NBA's return from the All-Star break. The Philadelphia 76ers will host the Atlanta Hawks, and they'll be shorthanded, missing several key players.
Despite getting plenty of time off, the Sixers' center Joel Embiid is still dealing with a setback. Following a Wednesday practice session, it was revealed that Embiid suffered another minor setback. As a result, the star big man will continue his trend of missing matchups.
Embiid won't be the only player out for the 76ers on Thursday. The veteran forward Paul George will continue serving his suspension. The star forward was last seen on January 29 against the Sacramento Kings. He's been suspended throughout the entire month of February. George won't be eligible to take the floor again until late March.
76ers vs Hawks Injury Report
Sixers
On Wednesday, Embiid reported shin soreness. The Sixers didn't want to take any chances and will continue taking his status day-to-day. According to the team, Embiid will be evaluated again ahead of Saturday's game. The door is left open for his possible return this weekend.
The Sixers are clearly still being careful with Kelly Oubre, who missed a large chunk of the season from November up until January. Oubre has appeared in the past 20 games. He remains on the injury report, but the Sixers will list him as available.
Hawks
The Hawks made a roster decision on Wednesday, cutting ties with Nikola Djurisic. As a result of getting waived, he won't be on the Hawks' trip on Thursday.
As for the trade pickup, Jonathan Kuminga, the former Golden State Warriors forward is still recovering from the knee injury he suffered while with Golden State.
On Wednesday, the Warriors released an official injury update on the veteran. Unfortunately, the Kuminga debut for Atlanta will continue to be delayed as his recovery is ongoing.
"Forward Jonathan Kuminga, who sustained a left knee bone bruise while playing for Golden State at Dallas on Jan. 22, is progressing in his rehabilitation. He will be re-evaluated in approximately one week, and an update will be provided at that time," the Hawks announced.
The Sixers and the Hawks are slated for a 7 PM ET tip on Thursday.
