Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli set an unwanted Premier League record after an underwhelming display in Wednesday night’s 2–2 draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The Brazilian international started and completed the full 90 minutes but struggled to influence proceedings in attack, missing key opportunities and failing to register a decisive contribution.
According to [WhoScored](https://x.com/i/status/2024446364424573415), Martinelli was dispossessed seven times against Wolves, the highest number recorded by any player in a single Premier League match this season.
The Brazilian forward has endured a difficult Premier League campaign for the Gunners, scoring once and registering just two assists in 21 appearances.
However, the 24-year-old has been in outstanding form in cup competitions, including the UEFA Champions League and the FA Cup.
Martinelli has scored six goals and provided one assist in seven appearances as Arsenal finished top of their group in the UEFA Champions League.
His impressive performances, along with the team’s strong showing, secured the automatic qualification to the Round of 16, allowing them to avoid the February playoff round.
He has also been in scintillating form in the FA Cup, scoring four goals in two matches to help Arsenal reach the fifth round.
After a slow start to the Premier League campaign, Martinelli will be hoping for an opportunity to rediscover his form when Arsenal take on Tottenham Hotspur in Sunday’s North London Derby.
