'Pretty much inseparable': Estevao Willian says two Chelsea players are behind his success this season

Adapting to life in London is rarely a solo mission, but for Estevao Willian, the transition from Brazil to the Premier League has been defined by a bond built with Joao Pedro and Andrey Santos.

At just 18 years of age, Estevao Willian has become a key cog in Liam Rosenior‘s side.

Estevao became the first Chelsea teenager in the Premier League era to score seven goals in a season, surpassing Marc Guiu’s total of six.

And that’s not all, as Estevao has achieved a few other records in his record-breaking first campaign at Stamford Bridge, including scoring in his first three Champions League starts.

But, he’s showing maturity way above his years, putting the success of his move to Chelsea down to the fact that Andrey Santos and Joao Pedro have been by his side.

Estevao Willian hails the impact of Joao Pedro and Andrey Santos

Speaking via Chelsea, Estevao has been sharing just how inseparable he and his Brazilian teammates Joao Pedro and Andrey Santos have been since he joined.

“Those two have been a huge part of my journey here – they’ve been fundamental to my development so far. I’d say we’ve been pretty inseparable.

Without them, I’m sure it would have been much harder to adjust. So, I’m really grateful.”

Pedro, Santos and Estevao have done so well that Carlo Ancelotti is considering adding all three of the Chelsea players to Brazil’s World Cup squad for the summer.

Santos, Estevao and Pedro’s record together at Chelsea

In 12 matches across all competitions this season, the trio have won eight, drawn two and lost two.

Joao Pedro has established himself as the primary goal threat for Chelsea, recording 13 goals across all competitions, including 10 in the Premier League.

Andrey Santos has been the most consistent starter of the three, making 19 Premier League appearances and 26 in all competitions. Even Steve McManaman believes that Santos has been better than Moises Caicedo this season for Chelsea, which says a lot.
