Liam Rosenior provides Chelsea injury update including Marc Cucurella and Cole Palmer news

Chelsea are back in action on Saturday as Liam Rosenior prepares his side to host Burnley at Stamford Bridge, another must-win game in the race to secure a top-four spot.

For the first time in Rosenior’s reign as Chelsea manager, the gaffer has been afforded a whole week with no game. Chelsea last played on Friday last week, as the Blues cruised past Hull City 4-0 in the FA Cup.

But the last time Chelsea were in Premier League action, the Blues surrendered a two-goal lead and utter dominance to six crazy minutes against Leeds United, who came from behind to draw level in London.

On Saturday, Chelsea need to get back on track with Man United and Liverpool picking up in form. Ahead of the game, Liam Rosenior provided an injury update on his team, including news on Marc Cucurella.

Marc Cucurella and Romeo Lavia updates ahead of Burnley

Currently, Chelsea have Tosin Adarabioyo, Levi Colwill, Romeo Lavia, Dario Essugo, Jamie Gittens and Filip Jorgensen injured, while Marc Cucurella was subbed at half-time against Leeds and missed the Hull game.

Speaking at his press conference, Rosenior answered questions about the injury status of his squad. The Blues manager confirmed Cucurella is out, while also discussing James and Palmer’s current fitness.

“I can’t give a timescale with Marc. He has a hamstring injury. It’s a real shame. He’s one of the best left-backs in the world. We have Jorrel, we have Mamadou. The sooner he gets back, the better,” he said.

“I’ve been asked about Reece and Cole before. It’s day by day. It’s how each player feels. They trained well today, they’re both fit and available for selection. Having both players available makes our team better.”

Cucurella’s injury is a blow, especially given Hato’s performances against West Ham. Paul Merson believes Chelsea would have beaten Leeds had Cucurella remained on the pitch, with Hato replacing the Spaniard.

Mamadou Sarr will be pushing for a start against his display against Hull, while the ongoing fitness issues of Reece James and Cole Palmer continue to be monitored by Rosenior. But they are both fit to feature.

With Gittens still missing, Rosenior will have Estevao, Alejandro Garnacho and Pedro Neto to pick from out wide. Liam Delap starred against Hull but Joao Pedro is likely to continue his role in the starting XI.
