The London Blues Chelsea are looking to prepare a deal for the signing of a centre back. In recent games Liam Rosenior’s team have struggled a lot and have failed to take the all three points. The coach have pointed out the problem, and it’s Chelsea backline. It would be interesting to see when the management brings some new faces.
Chelsea have reportedly done the most groundwork, alongside Liverpool, to sign Nottingham Forest centre back, Murillo. The Blues have been linked with him quite a few times recently, and it is a name that does not seem to go away, suggesting that it could be a serious move that they look to try and pull off.
According to a report this week, Murillo is preparing to leave Nottingham Forest this summer. His camp ‘are actively assessing potential landing spots’ right now ahead of the summer window at the end of the season. The report goes on to say that Chelsea and Liverpool have done more groundwork on Murillo than any other club over the past 12 months, with both sides even weighing up bids last summer.
Chelsea are still looking for a new centre back despite bringing back Mamadou Sarr in the January transfer window, and it appears that Murillo is certainly one name to watch here. It would be interesting to see the player in Chelsea’s colors and fighting for the badge.

Liverpool are also in the race along with Chelsea for the signing.
As Liverpool plans for the potential loss of Ibrahima Konate, interest in Nottingham Forest star Murillo seems to grow, but they aren’t the only suitors. The recruitment staff at Liverpool will be looking at their options for an elite center back addition. Reports from Italy on Sunday claimed Liverpool wants Bremer wants Juve with Chelsea is also interested. This follows a January battle between the two Premier League giants for Jeremy Jacquet.
It shouldn’t come as a surprise then to hear that both are laying the ‘groundwork’ for a summer move for Murillo. Murillo is a physical specimen and quite a unique profile of a center back. He’s far more mobile than you might think and very technically proficient. The concern we would have with this move is his age.
Liverpool have gone young with Jacquet and Giovanni Leoni, but the Forest defender is just a couple of years their senior. If Konate is to be replaced by Murillo, Van Dijk would be the only one in that position with any real experience at the very top level.

The Blues vs Hull City
A Pedro Neto hat-trick fired Chelsea into the FA Cup fifth round with a comfortable win at Championship Hull City. Back at a snowy MKM Stadium, Blues boss Liam Rosenior, a former Hull player and manager, had to wait until the 40th minute for his side to make the most of their dominance with the opening goal. A lovely interchange of passes ended with Neto whipping a left-footed strike from just outside the box into the corner.
The Portugal international then doubled Chelsea’s lead five minutes after the break in bizarre circumstances. Neto’s swerving in-swinging corner evaded everyone and nestled into the net after bouncing through Hull keeper Dillon Phillips’ legs.
Brazilian teenager Estevao made up for an earlier poor miss by slotting home in the 59th minute following clever hold-up play from Liam Delap, who spent a season on loan with the Tigers when Rosenior was in charge. Eight time FA Cup winners Chelsea will find out their fifth-round opponents before Macclesfield hosts Brentford in Monday night’s game.
