Chelsea Shift Focus Following Failed signing Move

The London Blues Chelsea are looking for a signing which can chance the depth of their current squad. After the draw against Leeds Liam Rosenior felt the need of signing an experienced Centre back. As per the reports, Chelsea are currently looking to sign Kim Min Jae from Bayern. It would be interesting to see how the management makes the signing happen.

Chelsea are weighing up a bid to sign Bayern Munich defender Kim Min-jae following their unsuccessful move of Jeremy Jaquet in January. Kim has made 102 appearances in all competitions for Bayern since joining the Bundesliga giants from Napoli for €50million (£43.5m) in 2023 – a fee that made him the most expensive Asian footballer in history.

In that time, the 29-year-old has proven an invaluable member of the squad. It helped Vincent Kompany’s side win both the league title and the German Super Cup last season. However, a combination of injury problems and fierce competition for places means Kim has failed to establish himself as a regular starter at the heart of Kompany’s defence, with both Dayot Upamecano and Jonathan Tah ahead of the South Korean in the pecking order.

The former Napoli and Fenerbahce centre-back has made a total of just ten starts in the Bundesliga this term. He has also made four substitute appearances for the German champions in the Bundesliga. hough well stocked at the heart of their defence, Chelsea are known to be in the market for a centre-back after losing out to Liverpool.

Another signing Chelsea are keen on

Chelsea have reportedly done the most groundwork, alongside Liverpool, to sign Nottingham Forest centre back, Murillo. The Blues have been linked with him quite a few times recently, and it is a name that does not seem to go away, suggesting that it could be a serious move that they look to try and pull off.

According to a report this week, Murillo is preparing to leave Nottingham Forest this summer. His camp ‘are actively assessing potential landing spots’ right now ahead of the summer window at the end of the season. The report goes on to say that Chelsea and Liverpool have done more groundwork on Murillo than any other club over the past 12 months, with both sides even weighing up bids last summer.

Chelsea are still looking for a new centre back despite bringing back Mamadou Sarr in the January transfer window. It appears that Murillo is certainly one name to watch here. It would be interesting to see the player in Chelsea’s colors and fighting for the badge.

Nottingham Forest defender Murillo has emerged as a key target for Chelsea who have done the most extensive background work on him over the past year, sources close to the agents industry have informed. Forest are reportedly demanding a fee in excess of £60-70 million. Murillo… pic.twitter.com/viHz0amKf3

The London Blues vs Hull

A Pedro Neto hat-trick fired Chelsea into the FA Cup fifth round with a comfortable win at Championship Hull City. Back at a snowy MKM Stadium, Blues boss Liam Rosenior, a former Hull player and manager, had to wait until the 40th minute for his side to make the most of their dominance with the opening goal. A lovely interchange of passes ended with Neto whipping a left-footed strike from just outside the box into the corner.

The Portugal international then doubled Chelsea’s lead five minutes after the break in bizarre circumstances. Neto’s swerving in-swinging corner evaded everyone and nestled into the net after bouncing through Hull keeper Dillon Phillips’ legs.

Brazilian teenager Estevao made up for an earlier poor miss by slotting home in the 59th minute following clever hold-up play from Liam Delap. Who spent a season on loan with the Tigers when Rosenior was in charge. Eight time FA Cup winners Chelsea will find out their fifth-round opponents before Macclesfield hosts Brentford in Monday night’s game.

Author’s insight

From the author’s point of view, both Murillo and Min Jae would be perfect for the squad. Although Murillo is quite younger and has more versatility than Bayern’s Kim Min Jae.
