“I can’t…” – Rosenior frustrates fans with worrying update over key player’s status

Marc Cucurella’s hamstring injury is very damaging to the first team as he’s such a key player – and Chelsea still don’t know how serious it is.

Things are going swimmingly for Chelsea at the moment, and the team is in good form. One slight cloud on the horizon is the injury to Marc Cucurella.

The full back limped off at half time in the game against Leeds early last week with a hamstring issue. Manager Liam Rosenior was asked about the Spaniard’s condition in his press conference today and gave the following answer:

“I can’t give an exact timeframe on Marc. He suffered a hamstring injury. It’s a real shame because he’s one of the best left-backs in the world. We have Jorrel [Hato] and Malo [Gusto] who can cover.”

Cucurella injury severity remains unclear, even after 9 days

We can’t help but be a bit frustrated by that answer. We could understand that being the case in the press conference a week ago, as it was just a couple of days after the injury was picked up. But the Leeds game was nine days ago now. The club must have some indication of whether it’s a mild or severe problem.

It’s only natural to worry that a lack of update means it’s more serious than the best case scenario.

We’re not asking for a specific date here, just a notion of whether he will be back in weeks or months.

In other news…

Morgan Rogers would be a dream target for many Chelsea fans, but his price tag is a major obstacle to a move right now.

Liam Delap continues to be linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge, but we really don’t see it as likely just yet.
